The Directorate of Special Programs and Disaster Management, under the leadership of Ag. Director Lenah Kiambi, today held a consultative meeting with Meru County Boda Boda Operators, led by their Chairperson John Baraza.
The engagement focused on building the capacity of boda boda riders in key areas of disaster preparedness, response, and management across the county.
During the session, participants discussed critical training topics, including fire rescue techniques, basic first aid, socio-economic empowerment, and climate change awareness.

The initiative aims to enhance public awareness and promote sensitization drills, ensuring that boda boda riders often among the first responders in emergencies are well equipped to provide timely assistance during crises.
By empowering riders with essential skills, the Directorate seeks to promote community safety and strengthen disaster response mechanisms throughout Meru County.
