Popular Kenya Police Service officer Afande Denno has finally silenced rumours claiming he had been fired from the force.
For days, social media had been abuzz with reports alleging that Denno had resigned or been dismissed from the service following frustrations from his superiors, frustrations allegedly linked to his outspoken support for anti-government demonstrations.
From claims of resignation to supposed dismissal, Kenyans online had a field day.
Many mocked the officer, saying he had “lost a good job because of activism,” while others pitied him, insisting that life outside the service would be difficult.

However, fresh details now reveal that Afande Denno neither resigned nor was he sacked.
Instead, he was transferred to Garissa, where he has already resumed his official duties.
News of his transfer was first shared by Denno himself in a video posted on his page on Friday, October 24, 2025.
In the clip, the officer could be seen strolling through the streets of Garissa, cheerfully interacting with residents.
Through the video, Denno addressed the rumours head-on, calling out those who had celebrated his alleged sacking.
He revealed that the viral news had been part of an experiment to test how Kenyans react to misfortune.
“Back to system. Back to the roots. Mukisema tunaenda kuhangaika. Nlikua nawapima tu. Nlikua nataka kuona mutasema nini. Na nyinyi Wakenya are very good at demoralising people,” Denno said.
He added that he was disappointed by how quickly many Kenyans jumped to mock him instead of offering support.
Denno confirmed that he is fully back in service and settling into his new station in Garissa, promising to resume posting more content soon.

On the other hand, Cop Shakur, a Kenya Prisons officer who was equally vocal during the anti-government protests, has not been as lucky.
As earlier reported, Shakur came out recently pleading for help after being dismissed from the Kenya Prisons Service.
He revealed that since losing his job, his life has taken a painful turn, his car hire and gas businesses collapsed, and his wife left him when things got tough.
While Denno seems to have bounced back stronger, Shakur’s story remains a painful reminder of how costly speaking out can be for men in uniform.
