Sammy Kioko, ailing partner cut treatment short in India due to financial difficulties

Comedian Sammy Kioko’s troubles continue to pile up, even after publicly appealing to Kenyans for help in hopes of finding a solution.

As earlier reported by Nairobi News, Kioko had called out the Machakos County Government and Governor Wavinya Ndeti for failing to pay his company Sh19 million for a tender his firm delivered.

His revelation sparked an online storm as county officials and the governor traded blame instead of addressing the matter.

Left with no other option, Kioko turned to Kenyans for assistance, explaining that the money owed by the county was meant to cover medical treatment for his ailing partner.

Fortunately, Kenyans, fellow celebrities and well-wishers contributed generously, allowing Kioko to fly his partner to India for specialised treatment.

However, the treatment came to an abrupt halt on Thursday, November 20, after Kioko and his team could no longer afford the escalating medical bills.

Kioko revealed that he is returning to Nairobi with his partner after being forced to cut short her treatment due to financial constraints.

Speaking on Instagram on Thursday, November 20, 2025, he said they will land back in Kenya on Friday, November 21, after realising they could not stay longer for the full treatment as earlier planned.

The comedian explained that they had hoped to remain in India until his partner received complete care, but the costs were simply too high to sustain.

“We are leaving India, back to Nairobi, where we will arrive on Friday. Our greatest wish is tungekaa sana and for her to receive her full treatment, but unfortunately, due to some financial constraints, we could not manage,” Kioko said.

Despite the setback, he expressed hope that things will eventually fall into place.

“But God willing, kila kitu itakua sawa. Atarudi tu amalizie,” he added.

Kioko also thanked his family, friends and everyone who contributed to making the treatment trip possible.

“Thank you so much to my family, my friends and you guys for contributing, and to everyone who pulled their resources just for us to manage. Asanteni sana,” he said.

He went on to open up about the emotional toll the situation has taken on him, admitting that the pressure had pushed him into deep reflection about his role and the weight he has been carrying.

“After a deep reflection, nikajiuliza maswali mengi nikasema maybe I just step aside from all this. Mimi pia ni binadamu, and it is draining me every day, every time. Maybe the problem is Sammy Kioko; I don’t know,” he shared.

Kioko revealed that he has now decided to step aside and allow his partner to receive help through other channels once they return home.

He said she will rest for a few days before the family takes her to county offices in hopes of getting further assistance.

“I have decided to step aside, and I have encouraged my sister. So when we get back, nitapatia siku kama… apumzike, then on Tuesday, we will have familia wampeleke kwa county; in their offices, maybe atasaidika,” he said.
