Netizens have been left buzzing after an Eldoret-based Catholic priest shocked many by walking straight into a packed nightclub, not to party, but to preach and spread God’s gospel.
For years, nightclubs have often been viewed as dens of sin, places where God is the last thing on people’s minds.
However, a growing number of clergy are challenging that perception, and it appears they are winning the battle, Nairobi News has learnt.
This was evident over the weekend after a bold Catholic priest, identified as Padre Michael, made an unexpected appearance at MP Oscar Sudi’s popular Eldoret nightclub, Timba XO, on Friday night, November 21, in an extraordinary mission to “harvest souls.”

Videos showing Padre Michael mingling with revelers quickly flooded social media, sending Kenyans into a frenzy.
Unlike the typical partygoers who flocked to the club armed with brown and green bottles, Padre Michael walked in armed with the gospel, determined to save souls in a space many religious leaders would never dare venture into.
His presence sparked heated debate online, with Kenyans taking sides over his unconventional approach.
In viral clips from the night, the priest is seen blessing patrons, praying for them, and urging them to choose Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, right in the middle of the pulsating club atmosphere.
In a surprising twist, Timba XO’s famed Dorime Girls were seen carrying banners appreciating Padre Michael for visiting the establishment, a gesture that left many stunned.
Not only did the partygoers welcome his presence, but thousands of Kenyans online also applauded his courage, praising him for stepping into a nightclub rather than standing on church pulpits to judge those struggling with faith.
Many netizens drew parallels to the Bible story in which Jesus interacts with sinners, reminding critics that Christ came specifically for those deemed lost.

Mark 2:13–17 captures this message:
“Jesus visited and associated with sinners, particularly tax collectors and other marginalized people, to bring them salvation, forgiveness, and a path to repentance. This was often seen as controversial by the religious leaders of the time, who believed associating with sinners would make Jesus unclean, but he countered that the sick (sinners) need a doctor, not the healthy. Jesus’s actions demonstrated his mission was to call all people to him, and that God’s love reaches across social barriers.”
In the same spirit, Kenyans hailed Padre Michael’s bold move, noting that the country needs more religious leaders willing to meet people where they are, even if that means walking into a nightclub at midnight to save a soul.
