The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice ahead of the official launch of the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) Road, scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025.
The ceremony will be presided over by President William Samoei Ruto at multiple points along the highway.
According to KeNHA Director General Luka Kimeli, the highly anticipated launch is expected to attract significant activity throughout the corridor, resulting in heavy traffic congestion for most of the day.
In its advisory, the Authority urged motorists planning to use the route to consider rescheduling their travel or opting for alternative roads to avoid delays.

The recommended alternative routes include:
- Ngong – Suswa – Narok – Mau Narok – Njoro – Nakuru
- Nairobi – Thika – Magumu – Njabini – Ol Kalou – Nakuru
- Nakuru – Kampi ya Moto – Ravine – Makutano
- Nakuru – Njoro – Molo – Mau Summit
KeNHA emphasized the need for road users to plan their journeys in advance, noting that the launch will temporarily disrupt normal traffic flow along the busy A8 highway.
“We urge all motorists plying these sections of the road to replan their journeys accordingly,” the Authority stated, adding that it regrets any inconvenience caused by the event.
The Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit stretch is a critical section of the Northern Corridor, linking Nairobi to western Kenya and serving as a key trade route within the East African region.
