ANU detectives arrest suspected drug trafficker, seize Sh11.61 million worth of bhang in Nakuru operation

Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives in Nakuru have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized bhang worth an estimated Sh11.61 million during a targeted operation along the Kabarak–Nakuru Road.

The arrest followed actionable intelligence that led detectives, working jointly with officers from the Dog Unit, to intercept a silver Toyota Voxy, registration number KBN 486Z.

While the driver managed to evade arrest, the co-driver, identified as Dennis Mukungua, was apprehended at the scene.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 12 green sacks and 12 bales of bhang weighing a total of 387 kilograms.

Mukungua was taken into custody and escorted, together with the impounded vehicle and recovered narcotics, to the police station, where he is being processed ahead of arraignment.

In a separate but related operation, detectives from Keiyo South, in collaboration with officers from Metkei Police Station, intercepted a Toyota Fielder, registration number KDV 627S, in the Kapchorwa area of Kamwosor Location.

The vehicle was being driven by Vincent Odhiambo.

Upon inspection, officers discovered seven bags of bhang concealed inside the car, leading to Odhiambo’s immediate arrest.

He was escorted to Metkei Police Station alongside the seized drugs and the vehicle for further legal action.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks through sustained operations and multi-agency collaboration, warning that traffickers will face the full force of the law regardless of their status.
