The family of renowned gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, is mourning the death of his wife, Mrs Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, who passed away in the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026.
In a statement released by the family, Joyce—affectionately known as “Joy”—died at around 3am after a prolonged illness marked by immense courage and deep faith.
She had undergone a kidney transplant in mid-2025 and later faced a series of medical complications.
Although an infection late last year was successfully managed, she experienced further health challenges in recent weeks and was re-admitted to hospital after briefly returning home two weeks ago.
Joyce is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and pillar of strength to her family. She is survived by her husband, DJ Karumba, and their three children—Toria, Riri, and Imani.
The family described her passing as a profound loss but said they are comforted by their faith.
“While we are deeply saddened by this loss, we find comfort knowing she is now at perfect peace,” the statement read, as the family appealed for prayers, love, and privacy as they make funeral arrangements.
They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends, fans, and the gospel community, requesting the public and media to respect their privacy during the mourning period.
