IG Kanja emphasizes shared responsibility in ensuring safety and security for All Kenyans


The Inspector General of the National Police Service, IG. Douglas Kanja, joined senior government officials and leaders of the Catholic Church on Friday for a thanksgiving ceremony in Nyeri County, held in honour of the Principal Secretary for Gender, Anne Wang’ombe.

During his address, Mr. Kanja reaffirmed the police service’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Kenyans, residents, and visitors.

He stressed that security is a shared responsibility that requires active collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public to effectively safeguard communities.

The event was attended by several top government officials, including the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretary Ms. Hannah Wendot Cheptumo, and Secretary to the Cabinet Ms. Mercy Wanjau. Principal Secretaries Mr. Alex Wachira, Mr. Patrick Kilemi, Ms. Betsy Njagi, Ms. Mary Muthoni, Mr. John Mbugua, Dr. Salome Beacco, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, Mr. Joseph Motari, and Dr. Aurelia Rono also graced the occasion.

Other dignitaries included Kilifi Woman Representative Ms. Gertrude Mbeyu, alongside directors of parastatals, chief executive officers, and community leaders who gathered to celebrate Ms. Wang’ombe’s service.

The thanksgiving ceremony highlighted the importance of public service recognition and reinforced the collaborative relationship between government institutions, the police, and religious communities in promoting peace, development, and social cohesion across the country.
