Motorists have been left stranded after the historic Mogor Bridge along the Kilgoris–Lolgorian highway was swept away by heavy floods, cutting off key transport links in Transmara West and South.
Police confirmed that the road is currently impassable following catastrophic flooding that destroyed the bridge in Lolgorian, Narok County.
The bridge, which was constructed in 1937, was overwhelmed by rising water levels after days of intense rainfall in the region.
Authorities said the flooding has effectively severed access between Kilgoris and Lolgorian, disrupting movement of people, goods, and essential services.
Drivers attempting to access the route were advised to seek alternative roads as rescue and assessment teams evaluate the damage.
Local leaders have raised concerns over the impact of the destruction on trade and emergency services, noting that the Kilgoris–Lolgorian highway is a vital corridor for residents in Transmara West and South.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over aging infrastructure and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events across parts of Narok County.
