33-year-old man killed in attack in Garissa


A 33-year-old man was brutally killed in a late-night attack in Garissa County, with police launching a manhunt for a suspect believed to be his close friend.

The incident occurred on Sunday shortly before midnight in the Bulla Vumbi area involving Abdirahman Abdikadir Adow.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and the suspect, identified only as Shukri, were friends and had been chewing miraa together shortly before the fatal incident.

Police rushed to the scene and found the victim’s body lying in a pool of blood inside his house. He had sustained a deep stab wound to the back of the head.

The body was later moved to Garissa County Referral Hospital, where doctors confirmed the death before transferring it to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing and are pursuing the suspect, who remains at large.

The motive of the attack is yet to be established.

And a tragic electrocution incident claimed the life of a 16-year-old student in Kisumu County, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Saturday in the Obuch area of Nyalenda within Kisumu Central Sub-County.

According to police, the deceased was a Form Four student at Joel Omino Secondary School.

Earlier in the day, she had reportedly informed her mother that she experienced an electric shock when she touched the door of their house.

She later went to school but upon returning home at around 8:30am, attempted to demonstrate the incident by touching the same door. Despite her mother’s efforts to stop her, she came into contact with the door and was electrocuted, becoming trapped.

Her mother’s screams attracted neighbours who rushed to the scene and managed to push her away from the source of the electric current.

The teenager was rushed to Inuka Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers, accompanied by technicians from Kenya Power and Lighting Company, visited and processed the scene as part of ongoing investigations into the incident.

The body was later moved to Kisumu County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.
