Bar owner aged 47 found murdered in Kiambu after dispute over bill


A 47-year-old bar owner was brutally killed in the early hours of Saturday morning in Nyambari trading centre, Lari Sub-county, Kiambu County. Police suspect it was a dispute over an unsettled bill.

The incident was reported to the police on May 2. Police arrived at Silent Pub where they found a body lying in a pool of blood inside the premises.

The police discovered the body of the victim, identified as James Kimani Mwangi, the owner of the establishment. 

Police said he had sustained deep, penetrating wounds to the left collarbone, believed to have been inflicted by a sharp object.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was last seen alive at his pub in the company of a man who is now the prime suspect. 

Authorities believe the two had engaged in a quarrel over an unpaid bill. This may have escalated into the fatal incident.

The suspect remains at large, with police launching a manhunt to track him down.

The body was moved to the mortuary where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Police urge members of the public with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, police in Baringo County launched investigations following the discovery of a decomposed body of an unknown adult male inside an abandoned building at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kabarnet campus.

The body was discovered on the evening of May 1 by a foreman working on an Affordable Housing project within the institution. 

According to police, the foreman stumbled upon the remains inside a deserted structure belonging to the college.

Police officers responded to the scene shortly after the report was made. 

They found the body lying inside the building in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification difficult.

Authorities said no identification documents were recovered from the scene. Additionally, preliminary observations did not reveal any visible physical injuries on the body.

Crime scene personnel processed the area and documented evidence. Afterwards, the remains were moved to the Baringo County Referral Hospital mortuary.

The body is currently awaiting identification and a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Elsewhere, a 36-year-old man died after he was found unconscious near a bakery in Garissa Town and rushed to hospital. According to police, the incident was reported on May 1. 

The deceased was identified as Musyoki Mutua, a resident of Mororo area.

Police said the reporting party, who is a relative of the deceased, received information that Mutua had been seen lying unconscious near Salama Bakery. 

He rushed to the scene and found him weak and unresponsive.

Mutua was immediately taken to the Garissa County Referral Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Officers from Garissa Police Station, including the duty officer, visited the hospital and confirmed the incident.

The body was moved to the hospital mortuary. Subsequently, it awaits a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
