23-year-old man dies after electrocution while bathing in Siaya


A 23-year-old man died after being electrocuted while taking a bath outside his home in Siaya County.

The incident occurred on the morning of April 8, 2026 in Kabarua Centre, Mitundu Sub-location, within Mageta Location in Bondo Sub-county, police said.

The victim, identified as Michael Juma Wanjala, was reportedly electrocuted while bathing in the compound of their residential home.

He was rushed to Mageta Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was moved to Got Agulu Sub-county Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution are ongoing

Elsewhere, a 27-year-old man has died after falling from the second floor of an unfinished building in Kilifi County.

The incident occurred in the early hours of April 8, 2026, in the Marina Creek area of Mtwapa, within Kilifi South Sub-county.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Emmanuel Rimba Mwango, had arrived at the building where he lived with relatives while carrying a bottle of palm wine.

He reportedly sat on an open window on the second floor of the structure, which is still under construction.

His brother and a cousin briefly left to collect a phone from a nearby house, and upon returning, they found that Mwango had fallen from the building.

He was rushed to Mtwapa Sub-county Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers from Mtwapa Police Station visited and documented the scene.

The body was later moved to Kilifi County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kilifi South have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
