Police in Sotik, Bomet County, are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man whose body was discovered near a dam in Kamugeno Village, Ndanai Sub-Location.
The body of Francis Too, 80, was found lying at a dam belonging to Rose Chepkemoi, about one kilometre east of the police station.
Detectives visited the scene and established that the deceased had a blood clot on the left eye, but no other visible injuries were observed.
Police documented and processed the scene before moving the body to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Investigations into the suspected murder are ongoing.
Elsewhere, police in Kirinyaga East are investigating the sudden death of a 32-year-old woman who is believed to have bled to death after her dialysis catheter reportedly ruptured while she was asleep.
The deceased, identified as Susan Murugi, was found dead inside her two-room rented house on Tuesday afternoon after relatives became concerned when she failed to respond to knocks at her door.
Police said Murugi had a known kidney condition and had been undergoing dialysis treatment at Tenri Hospital, with her last hospital visit reported on May 23.
Her sister reportedly went to check on her at around 11am and found the house locked from inside. After receiving no response, the matter was reported to local authorities, prompting officers and residents to break into the house.
Inside, they found Murugi lying face down on a mattress in the sitting room, with blood stains on the floor and a blue basin beside her containing a pool of blood.
Investigators established that the dialysis catheter fixed on the right side of her chest had ruptured, leading to excessive bleeding.
And police in Bumula, Bungoma County, launched investigations after a human skeleton was discovered scattered in a thicket near River Nandingwa.
Police officers who visited the scene at Chiliba Village found several bones suspected to belong to a human body scattered in a bushy area on unoccupied land belonging to a local resident.
Police said a further search led to the discovery of a human skull near a shallow grave along the riverbank of River Nandingwa.
The remains are believed to belong to an unknown person whose age, gender and tribe could not immediately be established.
The scene was documented and photographed before the skeletal remains were moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation, identification and forensic analysis.
