Decomposing body of missing man found outside house under construction in Kisii


Police in Gucha Sub-County, Kisii County launched investigations following the discovery of a decomposing body outside a house under construction in the Boochi area.

According to the police, officers responded to information about a body found within the compound of a residence on June 6.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of Geoffrey Oteri Nyamao, a man believed to be over 50 years old.

The body was in an advanced state of decomposition and had a visible injury on the abdomen. The deceased was positively identified by local residents and close relatives.

Preliminary information gathered by investigators indicates that Nyamao was last seen alive between three and five days ago while walking within Boochi sub-location.

The body was removed to Gucha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death continue.

And police in Siaya County have launched investigations into the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was discovered along the Siaya–Luanda Road under circumstances suggesting foul play.

The incident was reported on the morning of June 6 after villagers alerted local authorities about a lifeless body lying beside the road at Sigana ‘B’ Village in Mur Ng’iya Sub-location, South East Alego Location. Initial reports had suggested the victim may have been involved in a hit-and-run road accident.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Melitus Otieno Juma, 35, lying on the ground with a deep cut wound to the head.

According to his family, the deceased left home on the evening of June 5 to buy medicine at Got Koyembe Shopping Centre but never returned.

During the scene examination, investigators recovered several items believed to belong to the deceased, including a Samsung mobile phone, a red cap branded “New York,” a bottle of Guinness beer, a brown leather jacket stained with blood, and a pair of black Crocs shoes. The items were collected and secured as exhibits for forensic analysis.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police are treating the case as a suspected murder and have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
