Detectives in Mlolongo, Machakos County, have launched investigations into the murder of a 35-year-old boda boda rider whose body was discovered with multiple stab wounds, while his motorcycle remains missing.
According to the police, Joseph Chilalo left his home at around 8 p.m. on June 6 riding his newly acquired motorcycle, a red Boxer BM 125. He was headed to Nakumatt Boda Boda Stage, where he worked.
When he failed to return home as expected, relatives became concerned. The matter took a tragic turn when a family member called the deceased’s phone and a stranger answered, informing him that Joseph had been found dead.
Police officers visited the scene behind the Chief’s Office in Mlolongo. They found the victim’s body lying on the ground with several stab wounds to the face and the back of the head.
The motorcycle was not found at the scene, raising suspicions that the killing may have been linked to robbery.
Crime scene investigators documented the scene before the body was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Detectives have commenced investigations and are pursuing leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and trace the missing motorcycle. No arrests had been reported at the time of the police report.
Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls on riders to always cooperate with their attackers for their own safety. Police said they are investigating the reported cases.
And the body of a 43-year-old man who drowned on June 4, 2026, was recovered from the water in Suba North Sub-County, Homa Bay County.
The body of Peter Ouma Okeyo was retrieved on the morning of June 7 after a three-day search. Police officers visited and processed the scene before launching further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
The body was moved to Mbita Sub-County Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Authorities have classified the case as a pending investigation as detectives continue to establish the events that led to the drowning.
