Kenyan actor and content creator Brian Kabugi, popularly known as Real Bugi, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his beloved mother.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed through social media, leaving fans, friends, and fellow entertainers sending messages of comfort and support to the former child star during one of the most difficult moments of his life.
Reports indicate that Kabugi’s mother passed away recently, although the family has not publicly disclosed the cause of death.

Bugi broke news of his mother’s death via Instagram.
“I never thought I would have to write a post like this. With a heavy heart, I share that my mother, my best friend, the woman who held me close and whom I held close, is no longer with us. She had been unwell for some time, and we truly did everything we could. I watched her fight. I watched her push through. But on Monday morning, she chose to rest. As much as this breaks my heart, I find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. As we navigate this loss, we are also faced with the reality of an outstanding hospital bill of Sh 3.8 million. I am humbly appealing to my community, friends, family, and anyone who is able, to help us clear this amount so that we can give her a peaceful and dignified send-off. I may not be able to respond to every message or call right now, but please know that every prayer, kind word, contribution, and act of support means more than I can put into words. Thank you for standing with me and my family during this difficult time. I am grateful for each and every one of you,” He wrote.
The loss is particularly painful for the actor given the close relationship he shared with his mother.
Over the years, she was not only a parent but also one of his biggest supporters as he navigated Kenya’s competitive entertainment industry.
According to available biographical information, Kabugi’s mother was actively involved in managing aspects of his career when he was growing up in the spotlight.
A Mother Who Witnessed His Rise to Fame
Many Kenyans first came to know Brian Kabugi through the hit Citizen TV children’s drama “Machachari,” where he portrayed the character Kenny.
The show turned him into a household name and one of the most recognizable child actors in the country.
Born in Nairobi in September 2000, Kabugi began acting at a young age before rising through the ranks to become one of Kenya’s most promising young performers.
Following his departure from “Machachari,” he successfully transitioned into more mature acting roles, appearing in productions such as “Teke,” “Sleep,” “Salem,” and the Netflix series “Volume.”
Throughout that journey, his mother remained a constant presence behind the scenes, encouraging him as he built a career that has now spanned more than a decade.
Outpouring of Support
Following news of the tragedy, fans flooded social media with condolence messages, many remembering the actor from his “Machachari” days and expressing sympathy to him and his family.
Some fans described the loss of a mother as one of life’s most difficult experiences, while others prayed for strength and comfort for the grieving actor.
The entertainment fraternity has also continued to rally around celebrities facing personal losses, with fellow actors and content creators often using their platforms to offer support during bereavement.

From Child Star to Accomplished Actor
Kabugi’s journey in the entertainment industry has inspired many young creatives.
After gaining fame as a child actor, he managed to avoid the pitfalls that often affect young stars and successfully reinvented himself as an adult performer.
His performances in television dramas and streaming productions have earned him recognition, including nominations and awards within Kenya’s film and television industry.
The actor has also remained active on social media, where he regularly shares updates about his work and personal life with his followers.
A Difficult Chapter
The death of a parent is a life-altering experience, and for Kabugi, the loss marks a painful chapter away from the cameras and public appearances that have defined much of his career.
As he and his family come to terms with the tragedy, Kenyans continue to send messages of condolence and prayers, hoping he finds strength in the memories and legacy left behind by his mother.
Funeral and memorial arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in due course.
May her soul rest in peace.
