Probe as bodaboda rider is found dead in Kisii as motorcycle goes missing


A 22-year-old boda boda rider was found dead near his home in Marani Sub-County, Kisii County.

Police suspect he was murdered by people who escaped with his motorcycle.

Police identified the deceased as Brian Onduko Machoni. His body was discovered at around 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Police visited the scene and established that Machoni had last been seen at about 7 p.m. on Saturday riding his motorcycle along the Nyakoe–Marani tarmac road.

The motorcycle was missing when the body was found, raising questions over the circumstances surrounding his death.

A preliminary examination of the body revealed no visible physical injuries, although foam was observed oozing from his mouth.

Crime scene officers processed the area before the body was moved to the Marani Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have launched investigations into the incident, including efforts to trace the missing motorcycle and determine the events leading to the rider’s death.

And police in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, have launched investigations into the death of a 34-year-old woman whose body was found outside a boutique in Gatundu Township on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Teresia Nyokabi Mboo, a resident of Kirangari Village in Ngenda Location, Gatundu South Sub-County.

Preliminary observations indicated that her trousers and undergarments had been pulled down to her legs, leading investigators to suspect she may have been sexually assaulted before her death.

Police also noted visible bruises on her right hip.

The scene was documented and processed by investigators before the body was removed to the Gatundu Level Five Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and whether sexual assault occurred.

Detectives have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
