Man dies after machete attack by neighbour in Bungoma


Police in Bungoma County are searching for a suspect accused of fatally attacking his neighbour following a domestic dispute in Bungoma South Sub-County.

According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, June 28, at Thooma Village in Mechimeru Location, where 41-year-old Nickson Barasa was allegedly cut on the head with a machete during a confrontation with his neighbour, identified as Ishmael Kundu.

The victim was rushed to Mechimeru Model Health Centre, where he received first aid before being referred to Bungoma County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police officers visited and documented the scene as part of the investigation.

The body was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The suspect is reported to have fled and remains at large as police continue investigations and efforts to trace and arrest him.

And police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found along a footpath in the Sisal Matopeni area of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Embakasi Sub-County.

According to police, the incident was reported at around 10:32 a.m. on Monday, prompting officers from Villa Police Station, led by the Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS), to visit the scene.

The deceased was identified only by the name Marcus and was known in the area as a plastic waste collector.

Police found the body lying on its back along the walking path. Although no visible physical injuries were observed, blood was seen oozing from both ears, prompting investigators to treat the death as suspicious pending further examination.

Crime scene investigators from Embakasi processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Nairobi City Funeral Home for identification, preservation and a post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
