An unidentified adult male was found dead after his body was spotted floating in a dam near Malaba Market in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Thursday. With the assistance of Kiambu County firefighters, the body was retrieved from the dam.
A preliminary examination found no visible physical injuries on the deceased. Police suspect the man may have accidentally slipped into the dam and drowned, although the exact cause of death will be established through a postmortem examination.
The scene was processed and documented by the CSI team before the body was moved to General Kago Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification and a postmortem. Investigations are ongoing.
Elsewhere, police in Meru County launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a maize plantation in Imenti Central Sub-county.
The incident was reported Thursday, after a man informed police that his son, Lewis Munene, had found the body while working on the family’s approximately 15-hectare maize farm.
The body of the unknown adult male was found lying on the ground with visible bruises on the back and both arms, prompting investigators to treat the case as a suspected murder.
Police also recovered a black bag containing assorted clothes, believed to belong to the deceased, a few metres from where the body was found.
The body was moved to Kanyakine Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
And police in Meru County launched investigations into the murder of a 26-year-old man who was chased, assaulted and fatally hacked by a group of young men in Igembe South Sub-County.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Antuambui Sub-location.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Phinius Mutuma, was pursued by several young men who were well known to his relatives. The attackers allegedly caught up with him, dragged him to a nearby river and repeatedly assaulted him before inflicting multiple cuts with a sharp object.
He sustained severe injuries to the head, hands and legs and was left unconscious.
Residents rescued Mutuma and rushed him to Nyambene Level IV Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited the scene and documented it with the assistance of crime scene personnel.
The body was moved to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue. Police are pursuing the suspects behind the killing.
