26-year-old man found stabbed to death in Kisumu County


Police in Kisumu County launched investigations into the murder of a 26-year-old man whose body was found along a murram road in Seme Sub-County.

The deceased, identified as Tonny Ochieng, was discovered on Wednesday night in Kamolo Village with multiple stab wounds.

According to police, the incident was reported prompting officers from Kombewa Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Seme to visit the scene.

Investigators found the body lying face-up along the Guu Kabege–Kondik murram road. The deceased had sustained six stab wounds to the chest and one to the hand, indicating he was fatally attacked with a sharp object.

His father told police that Ochieng had left home at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday but never returned. His body was later discovered along the roadside.

Scene of Crime personnel documented the area before the body was moved to the Kombewa County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have commenced investigations to establish the motive behind the killing and identify those responsible. No arrests had been made by the time of filing the report.

And police in Nakuru County are investigating the sudden death of a 48-year-old man who collapsed moments after purchasing alcohol at a wines and spirits outlet in Olenguruone Township.

The deceased, identified as Charles Kirui, was pronounced dead on arrival at Olenguruone Level IV Hospital after he lost consciousness on Wednesday evening.

According to police, the incident was reported by the proprietor of Network Wines and Spirits, who said the man had been drinking at or visiting the premises before the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Kirui purchased an alcoholic drink identified as Best and briefly left the shop. He later returned to the counter, where he suddenly collapsed and became unconscious.

He was rushed to Olenguruone Level IV Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers who examined the body at the hospital established that it had no visible physical injuries.

As part of the investigations, detectives collected several brands of alcoholic beverages from the wines and spirits outlet for laboratory analysis to determine whether the death may have been linked to the alcohol consumed or any other cause.

The body was moved to the Olenguruone Level IV Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations into the cause of the sudden death are ongoing.
