A 22-year-old farmhand died after allegedly being assaulted during a confrontation over a mobile phone in Tawain village, Trans Nzoia County.
Stephen Ndungu was reportedly involved in a fight with a 21-year-old man on Monday, August 24, 2026, after an argument over a mobile phone.
Ndungu had been employed as a shamba boy by a local.
Ndungu and the assailant got into a confrontation before the two began fighting.
The assailant allegedly punched and struck Ndungu several times, causing him to collapse and die at the scene.
Police officers from Kiungani Police Station, assisted by members of the public, pursued and arrested Kemboi.
Police officers who visited the scene found that Ndungu had visible injuries to his head, stomach and face.
The body was removed from the scene and taken to Kiminini Cottage Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
The autopsy is expected to establish the precise cause of death and provide further information to investigators.
The suspect remained in police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death continued.
And police in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County, are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man whose body was found at a residential compound in Kisawai Location.
George Wanyonyi Wamono was found dead at the compound of a local man in Bituyu village at about 8am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Police visited the scene and found Wanyonyi’s body lying at the compound.
Police said there were no visible injuries on the body.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Saboti processed the scene before the body was moved to Kiminini Cottage Hospital mortuary.
The body was preserved at the facility pending a postmortem examination, which is expected to establish the cause of death.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding Wanyonyi’s death.
