Notorious Robbery Suspect Arrested in Garissa Township

Police in Garissa have arrested a suspected repeat offender accused of terrorising residents with a series of violent robberies in Garissa Township.

The suspect, identified as Khadar Mohamed Yahya, alias Alka, was arrested during a joint operation involving officers from Garissa Police Station and their counterparts from California Police Station.

According to police, detectives tracked down Alka and flushed him out of his hideout within Garissa Township following investigations into a string of robbery with violence incidents.

The suspect is said to have been a long-standing person of interest to law enforcement officers and has previously faced criminal charges.

Police said Alka is currently facing an active robbery with violence case before the Garissa Law Courts, making his latest arrest another development in efforts to curb violent crime in the area.

He was taken to Garissa Police Station, where he remains in custody as officers complete the necessary processing ahead of his arraignment.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the arrest demonstrates its continued efforts to pursue suspects linked to serious offences and protect residents from criminal activities.

“We remain committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring that criminals are pursued and dealt with in accordance with the law,” the DCI said.

Investigators are expected to continue examining the suspect’s alleged involvement in other robbery incidents as they work to establish whether he is connected to additional cases reported within Garissa Township.
