Kenyan music duo Vijana Barubaru have announced a major change in their musical journey, revealing that they will be taking a hiatus to focus on their individual careers.
In an official statement, the duo reflected on their years together, describing their journey as one built on music, memories, brotherhood and the unwavering support of their fans.
“For years, the world has known us as Vijana Barubaru. Two voices, one shared journey,” the duo stated.
They acknowledged the impact of their partnership, expressing pride in what they have accomplished together and the foundation they have built as a duo.
The musicians explained that the decision comes as both artists continue to grow creatively and seek opportunities to explore their individual identities.
“As artists and as individuals, we have both continued to grow, and out of the desire to further explore our creative journeys, we have decided to go on a hiatus to focus on our solo careers,” they said.
According to Vijana Barubaru, the move is largely about self-discovery and creative exploration, giving each member an opportunity to experiment with new sounds, discover different aspects of themselves and determine what more they can become as artists.
The duo were also keen to assure their supporters that the decision does not erase the significance of their shared journey.
“Vijana Barubaru has given us a foundation, history, and brotherhood,” they said, while thanking fans for standing by them throughout their career.
They added that their achievements would not have been possible without the love and support they received from their audience.
