Police in Rabai, Kilifi County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 34-year-old man whose body was found near Jimba Location.
The deceased, identified as Mwinyi Swaleh Kigunge, was discovered hours after another man, was reportedly attacked and injured in the same area.
Police visited the scene and established that Hamisi had allegedly been attacked by unknown assailants, who cut him on the back of the head using a sharp object.
He was rushed to Mariakani Hospital for treatment.
Later in the morning, Rabai Police Station received information that the body of a man had been found near the same area. Police believe Kigunge and his colleaguehad been together before the incident. Both men are reportedly from Msambweni, Kwale County.
A bag containing books and clothes was also recovered at the scene. The items were alleged to be associated with witchcraft, and investigators are examining whether this could have been a possible motive for the attack. The alleged motive has not been independently established.
The scene was processed and documented, while Kigunge’s body was moved to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting an autopsy.
Officers also visited Mariakani Hospital to check on Hamisi but were informed that he had been transferred to Msambweni Hospital at the request of his uncle, identified as Bakari.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and assault and identify the perpetrators.
Meanwhile a hardware supervisor was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by an armed robber at a business premises in Oruba Township, Migori County, on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at Jatelo Wholesalers Hardware in Suna West Sub-County.
Police established that Zahid Ali Shariff, a 40-year-old man, had allegedly been attacked by a lone robber armed with a crude weapon described as an improvised hammer.
The attacker reportedly struck Shariff on the back of the head before ransacking the drawers and stealing an unknown amount of cash.
The injured supervisor was rushed to a Lifecare medical facility, where he was receiving treatment in serious condition.
The scene was processed by a scene-of-crime officer, while the case was placed under investigation by the SCCIO, Suna West.
Police are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspect.
