Tragedy struck a team when a 44-year-old man died after being electrocuted while repairing internet cables in Seahorse area, Kilifi Town, on Friday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Paul Kariuki, was working with a colleague on internet cables suspended from Kenya Power transmission poles when the incident occurred on September 18, 2026.
According to police report, the internet cable came into contact with a live electricity transmission wire, resulting in Kariuki being electrocuted.
His colleague rushed him to Kilifi County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers who visited the hospital reported that the deceased had burn marks on his chest, stomach and right hand.
The scene was visited and documented by police officers. Kariuki’s body was preserved at the Kilifi Hospital mortuary, pending an autopsy.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the safety conditions under which the cable repairs were being carried out.
And a 70-year-old woman who had been missing for two days was found dead in a newly dug well at her family home in Baghdad area, within Isebania Town, Kuria West, Migori County.
The body of Matinde Rhimo was discovered on Friday, September 18, 2026, after family members went to inspect the well during their routine household activities.
According to police, the discovery was made after locals found a body submerged in the well.
The body was retrieved and identified as that of Matinde Rhimo, the mother of the person who reported the incident.
Police established that the woman had gone missing on September 16, but her family had not reported the disappearance, believing she had visited friends in the area.
The scene was processed and photographs taken before the body was transported to Akidiva Mindira Morgue.
Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
