Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the government has not wavered in implementation of its manifesto that targets developing every part of the country.
The Second in Command stated that to date all the counties have benefitted from massive projects as promised in the Kenya Kwanza development blueprint with more in the pipeline.
“We are implementing the UDA manifesto step by step, word by word, page by page, chapter by chapter. I have no doubt that we will implement it in full,” he said.
The Deputy President spoke on Wednesday morning when he inspected development projects in Maragua Constituency, Murang’a County.
“I look at the progress of implementing the manifesto every day, page by page, because I know what it is in it. I was the one who wrote it,” DP stated.
Prof. Kindiki checked the progress of Gakoigo Stadium which is being constructed at 900 million shillings and the tarmacking of the 16-kilometre Kigoro-Matanya-Mung’etho-Muchagara-Kiambaa Road costing 1.1 billion shillings.
He later addressed jubilant residents at Kigoro centre in the Constituency where he informed them on the progress of other development projects in the devolved unit.
“We promised construction of the stadium when we held the Murang’a County Economic Forum at the site before the last elections. It is now ongoing. We promised and we are delivering it,” DP noted.
The stadium is among 32 others in various stages of completion across the country.
With funds already allocated for the construction of the road, the DP challenged the contractor to ensure its completion within a year.
“This road must be completed in under one year. I will consult with the concerned Ministry to ensure this road is completed in record time,” DP indicated.
The projects are among many others worth billions of shillings being financed by the government in the County geared at improving the lives of residents.
They include Mumbi Stadium in Kiharu Constituency also costing 900 million shillings, 27 modern markets, affordable housing projects, electricity expansion initiatives and tarmacking of hundreds of kilometres of roads among others.
“We are working hard to ensure every part of Kenya gets developed. When it comes to any contest on development, we will win no doubt,” he emphasized.
Nationally, DP stressed, the administration continues to roll out farmer-oriented programmes that entail friendly policies such as subsidizing fertilizer from 7500 shillings to 2000 shillings, cutting seed prices by half, reducing cost of sexed semen and improving milk, coffee and tea earnings among a host of others.
Leaders who accompanied the DP appreciated the government for allocating funds for the projects. They promised to support the Deputy President as he assists President Ruto serve the people.
“This is our son from the mountain and he is doing a great job supporting the President to deliver development to the people in our region and the country,” said Maragua MP Mary Wamaua.
Kangema MP Peter Kihungi thanked Prof. Kindiki, who was recently crowned Mt. Kenya spokesperson by elders, for being in the forefront against attempts to split the region into West and East.
“We must stay together as all communities from Mt Kenya. We are grateful you have taken a stand that we must stay united and no one should divide us. No one else should try to isolate any part of this region,” the lawmaker said.
“We are behind you 100 percent. Mt Kenya is one and we will support you and President Ruto serve the people,” said Nominated MP Sabina Chege.
In response, Prof. Kindiki said he will be firm in support of the region’s unity dismissing efforts to divide it.
“We must stay together. We cannot be separated. We are one people, one community. Mt Kenya is one,” he insisted.
He also called on the residents not to fall prey to politicians inciting violence against each other because of political affiliations.
“It is okay to choose whoever you want to support because it is your right. But we will not allow violence to rein in the region. We cannot allow some to destroy people’s properties because of politics,” DP stated.
