Police in Masaba North, Nyamira County, have launched investigations into the death of a 45-year-old woman whose body was found in a water trench within a thicket near her home.
The body of Beatrice Kwamboka Mogaka was discovered on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Mochenwa B Village, Embaro Sub-location, East Kitutu Location.
According to police, the incident was reported to police after the lifeless body was discovered in the area.
Police officers who visited the scene found Kwamboka’s body lying in a prone position inside a water trench approximately 100 meters from her home.
The deceased was reportedly half-naked and had visible injuries on her face, stomach and both hands, raising suspicion that she may have been assaulted before her death.
Preliminary investigations established that Kwamboka was last seen alive at around 5pm on Friday, September 25, by her son, at their homestead.
Her body was discovered at about 8am on Saturday by another son, Boniface Mogaka.
Police processed, documented and photographed the scene before the body was moved to St Catherine Ichuni Mission Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigators are expected to rely on the post-mortem findings and other evidence gathered at the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man died on Saturday after a heavy log he was carrying fell on him while pruning trees in Matungulu Sub-County, Machakos County.
The deceased, identified as Remiciuos Ngemu, was reportedly working at Canaan Village in Nzambani Sub-location, Kyeleni Location, when the accident occurred at about 9:30am.
According to police, Ngemu and others were pruning a tree and carrying a large log when he fell, causing the log to land on the left side of his head.
He sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The police visited the scene and documented the incident.
The body was later moved to Machakos Funeral Home pending further examination.
