The Archbishop of Nairobi, Philip Anyolo, Sunday announced the passing of Rev. Fr. Peter Kiarie Mutunga, a diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
In a statement released Sunday morning , Archbishop Anyolo said Fr. Kiarie died earlier in the day, describing him as a devoted servant of God who dedicated his life to pastoral ministry within the Archdiocese.
Fr. Kiarie hailed from Munyu Parish in Thika and was ordained to the priesthood on May 29, 1993.
For more than three decades, he served in various parishes across the Archdiocese, ministering to thousands of faithful.
At the time of his passing, he was serving at St. Martin de Porres Parish Karuri, which was his most recent assignment.
Over the years, he also served in several other parishes including Holy Family Githunguri Parish, St. Francis Xavier Parish Parklands, St. Michael Otiende Parish, and Thigio Parish, among others.
The Archdiocese praised Fr. Kiarie’s humility, dedication, and unwavering faith, noting that his ministry left a lasting impact on the communities he served.
The Archbishop called upon priests, religious, and the lay faithful to keep Fr. Kiarie’s family and parish communities in prayer during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later.
