The estimated Atlas Monroe net worth is $0 as of October 2026 because it went out of business in 2024, according to Techie + Gamers. Therefore, the best explanation of its wealth is that Atlas Monroe built its value through plant-based food sales, restaurant distribution, manufacturing and retail partnerships, reaching an estimated peak valuation of $7 million before eventually going out of business.

Company overview

Atlas Monroe was a plant-based food company founded by married couple Deborah and Jonathan Torres in San Diego. Deborah developed the company’s signature vegan fried chicken after changing her cooking approach to help her father, who had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Inspired by the documentary Simply Raw, she learned to prepare vegan food and later experimented with plant-based meat, eventually creating Atlas Monroe’s signature fried “chick’n.” The product gained recognition after winning Best Dish at the 2018 National Fried Chicken Festival, where Atlas Monroe was the only vegan vendor.

Shark Tank appearance

The company gained national attention when Deborah and Jonathan appeared on Shark Tank in 2019, seeking $500,000 for a 10% stake. Mark Cuban and guest Shark Rohan Oza showed interest and eventually offered $1 million plus a 10% royalty on sales, but the Torres’s rejected the deal.

Following the appearance, Atlas Monroe experienced a significant increase in sales, reportedly generating about $350,000 in online sales within two hours. The company subsequently expanded its production capabilities, opening a multimillion-dollar manufacturing facility in San Diego.

At its peak, Atlas Monroe expanded beyond its signature vegan fried chicken into products such as plant-based ribs, flavored pork, chicken fajitas, pasta Bolognese sauce, chili and other meat alternatives.

Later success

By 2021, the company reported more than $2 million in sales since appearing on Shark Tank and was producing approximately 1 million pounds of plant-based chicken. Its products were also supplied to numerous restaurants, including Copper Branch locations across North America, while the company pursued grocery store distribution and nationwide shipping.

Atlas Monroe continued expanding its restaurant presence in 2022 and reportedly had products in more than 40 Copper Branch locations as well as restaurants in several U.S. states.

The company also introduced Atlas Monroe 2.0, a “white meat” version of its plant-based chicken. Its business model was primarily based on the sale and distribution of plant-based food products, including vegan fried chicken and other meat alternatives, through restaurants, online orders, delivery services and retail partnerships.

This product sales and distribution business was the primary source of the company’s reported valuation and revenue.

Despite its earlier growth, Atlas Monroe’s financial position later deteriorated. By 2023, estimated annual revenue was reported at approximately $5 million to $7 million, although these figures were estimates rather than audited financial results.

Bankruptcy

In 2024, the business filed for bankruptcy under the corporate name JD Torres LLC. Its assets were subsequently auctioned, and its standalone San Diego restaurant closed.

Although the company’s website remains online, it stopped accepting orders and its social media activity has largely ceased.

Conclusion on Atlas Monroe net worth

As a result, Atlas Monroe’s current net worth cannot be treated as its former peak valuation. The company was reportedly valued at about $7 million at its peak, but following its 2024 bankruptcy and asset liquidation, sources describing it as having a $0 current net worth are referring to the defunct business rather than the value it once held.
