Police are investigating an incident where a 37-year-old man died after being seriously assaulted at Kiong’endo Market in Kenyenya Sub-County, Kisii County.
The deceased, identified as Ombiro Ogachi, was allegedly assaulted at the market on Wednesday, October 30, before being taken to Kenyenya Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
According to police, his condition was serious and he was later referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police officers visited the primary and secondary scenes as part of investigations into the incident.
Preliminary investigations established that Ogachi was allegedly assaulted by a man following an argument over an issue that had not been established.
The body was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

And police in Murang’a County have launched investigations into the death of a 46-year-old man whose body was found hanging under the roof of a store in Gatanga Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Samuel Keru Kiiru, was found dead at his home in Mugumo Kidogo village, Kigio Sub-Location, on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
According to police, Kiiru’s brother said he and his family were at home on Wednesday night when he instructed his wife to take supper to the deceased, whose home was adjacent to theirs.
The meal was delivered by the brother’s son with the deceased receiving it over a wall separating the two homesteads.
The family later retired to bed.
On Thursday at around 12:40pm, the brother was attending a merry-go-round meeting when he was informed by another brother, that Kiiru had allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself under the roof of his store.
Police officers visited the scene and commenced investigations.
However, officers examining the body noted injuries that raised suspicion about the circumstances of Kiiru’s death.
Police reported that the deceased had a deep cut above his right eyebrow with clotted blood, while blood was also seen oozing from his mouth.
The findings prompted investigators to treat the death as suspicious and explore the possibility that another person may have been involved.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was removed to Kirwara Funeral Home, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause and circumstances of death.
