Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has launched a fierce attack on Nairobi County Woman Representative Esther Passaris, accusing her of using her appearance to advance her political career.
The outspoken lawmaker on Tuesday, February 24, through an Instagram post seen by Nairobi News, lashed out at Passaris, sharply criticizing her conduct and public image.
In the post, Babu shared photos of Passaris in what he described as scanty outfits, accompanied by a caption suggesting she leverages her sexuality for political gain.
Through his caption, Babu urged Passaris to “dress decently” out of respect for her grandchildren and claimed that “not everybody will accept her sexual advances.”
He then went on to label the Nairobi Woman Representative a “Socialite Bimbo,” a nickname previously popularized by vocal commentator Miguna Miguna.
“Grandma Passaris should respect her grandchildren; not everybody will accept her sexual advances. Socialite Bimbo,” Babu wrote in the post.
It is unclear what specific incident triggered the exchange, but many commentators on his post believe it stems from political tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Babu has been closely aligned with the ODM faction known as the Linda Mwananchi Tour, which has been in active internal competition with other party factions over direction, leadership, and strategy.
Passaris, a two-term Woman Representative for Nairobi County, is a long-standing figure in Kenyan politics.
She has championed women’s empowerment, education, health and community development throughout her career, while also maintaining a background as a social entrepreneur.
The feud appears to be part of wider divisions within ODM, particularly as political alliances and power dynamics evolve ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Babu has expressed frustration with internal party decisions and has sought greater influence within the party’s leadership ranks, including ambitions that some say could challenge the current party order.
It should be noted that Passaris and Babu have had a complex and occasionally contentious history, marked by disagreements and public disagreements over policy, leadership and political strategy.
