Deputy President Kithure Kindiki reaffirms commitment to fast-track economic transformation across the Country

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating Kenya’s economic transformation through strategic infrastructure investments aimed at strengthening grassroots value chains.

Speaking in Kitui County, Kindiki said the government has allocated sufficient resources to revive and complete stalled road projects across the country while also initiating new ones to ease the movement of people and goods.

In Kitui, six major road projects are currently under construction. These include the 27-kilometre Kwa Siku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road at a cost of Sh3.5 billion, the Kamuwongo–Kandwia section of the Mwingi–Tseikuru Road costing Sh975 million, and the Zombe–Chuluni Road. The Enziu Bridge, valued at Sh165 million, is expected to be completed within the year.

Kindiki also highlighted progress under the nationwide Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme, revealing that Kitui County has been allocated Sh2.1 billion to connect additional households to the national grid. Of this amount, Sh200 million has been set aside for Kitui West Constituency.

The Deputy President further joined local leaders in supporting micro and small enterprises established by women groups through their SACCOs in Kitui West Constituency. He also updated residents on the status of ongoing national government projects within the constituency and across the county.

Leaders present at the event included Rachael Nyamai (Kitui South), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Fabian Kyule (Kangundo), Beth Syengo, Livestock Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke, and Members of the Kitui County Assembly led by Speaker Kelvin Katisya.

Kindiki emphasized that the infrastructure push is designed to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and improve livelihoods by enhancing connectivity and supporting grassroots enterprises.
