A 20-year-old boda boda rider died after being electrocuted while washing his motorcycle at a car wash in Gambani Village, Likoni Sub-County, Mombasa County.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, police said.
The rider, identified as Halii Ngovo Mwangali, had reportedly gone to the car wash and was given a washing machine to clean his motorcycle.
He was electrocuted while operating the machine and was rushed to Murima Hospital for emergency treatment. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited the hospital and confirmed the death.
Officers also visited and processed the primary scene, where the washing machine involved in the incident was recovered.
Mwangali’s body was moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy as investigations into the incident continue.
Meanwhile, a 72-year-old man was killed after a gang of unknown number stormed his home in Omobondo 2 Village, Riribe Sub-Location, Kenyenya Sub-County, Kisii County.
The incident occurred at around 2:40am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Police said the gang targeted the home of Lucas Mekubo and used a large stone to break down the door before repeatedly stabbing him with a sharp object.
The attackers fled the scene after the assault, leaving Mekubo critically injured.
He was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police visited and processed the scene, where visible injuries were documented.
Mekubo’s body was moved to the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy as police launch investigations to establish the motive and identify those behind the attack.
