Police in Laikipia East Sub-County launched investigations after the body of a 62-year-old man was discovered in a thicket in Nanyuki under circumstances suspected to be linked to murder.
According to police, the body of an unknown man had been found in a bushy area at Nturukuma, Milimani.
The deceased was subsequently identified as James Ndirangu, aged 62 years.
Investigators noted that the body had visible injuries on the chest and hands, prompting police to classify the case as a suspected murder pending further investigations.
The scene was processed and documented by forensic officers before the body was removed to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Detectives are now working to establish the circumstances that led to Ndirangu’s death and to identify any persons who may have been involved.
No arrests had been reported by the time investigations were launched.
And police in Tharaka North Sub-County, Tharaka Nithi County, have launched investigations into the death of a 47-year-old man whose body was discovered by the roadside on Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported at Kiamiramba Police Station on June 2, 2026, at around 7:50 a.m. by James Murari, a resident of Twanthanju Sub-location, after he found a body lying near his homestead.
Police officers, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) visited the scene and identified the deceased as Cyrus Mugao Njeru, a casual worker attached to the KWS Mugao Camp.
Preliminary examinations revealed that the deceased had sustained bruises on the head, elbow and lower abdomen, prompting investigators to treat the case as a suspected murder.
A motorcycle believed to belong to the deceased was found at the scene alongside his mobile phone and other personal belongings, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Crime scene personnel processed the area as detectives began investigations to establish what transpired before the fatal incident.
The body was moved to Marimanti Level IV Hospital Mortuary, where it will be preserved pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
No arrests have been made, and police say investigations are ongoing.
