Can You See Who Saved Your TikTok?

As TikTok continues to grow in popularity, creators are becoming increasingly interested in how their content performs beyond just views and likes. Among the many questions users often ask is whether it’s possible to see who saved their videos. Saving a TikTok—either by downloading it directly or adding it to favorites—is a common way users engage with content they like. But does the platform offer transparency on who exactly is saving your work?

Understanding Saves on TikTok

TikTok users interact with content in several ways: liking, commenting, sharing, favoriting, and downloading. While likes and comments are public and easily trackable, favorites and downloads are more private. When someone taps the bookmark icon to save your video to their favorites or downloads it to their device, it means they want to return to it later. For creators, this can signal that the content is engaging or valuable in some way.

However, TikTok does not notify creators when someone saves their video. You won’t receive alerts for favorites or downloads, and there is no section in the app that provides a list of users who have saved your videos. TikTok currently prioritizes user privacy when it comes to these kinds of interactions.

Can You Track Saves Through Analytics?

While TikTok does not show you who saved your videos, creators with TikTok Pro or Business accounts have access to a feature called “Video Analytics.” This tool provides data such as total video views, likes, shares, comments, and the number of times a video was favorited. However, it does not disclose who favorited or downloaded the video—only the number of users who took that action.

For example, under the “Engagement” tab of your video analytics, you might see that a video was favorited 120 times. This can be helpful for measuring performance and understanding what kind of content resonates most with your audience. Still, the data remains anonymous.

Why TikTok Keeps This Information Private

There are a few reasons why TikTok chooses not to reveal who saves videos. First, privacy is a key part of the platform’s user experience. By keeping actions like saving and favoriting private, TikTok allows users to engage with content more freely without the fear of being judged or tracked.

Second, publicizing who saves videos could discourage engagement. Some users might feel uncomfortable saving content if they knew their identity would be revealed to the creator. TikTok’s current model helps encourage more interaction by allowing users to quietly save or revisit videos without drawing attention to themselves.

Alternatives for Measuring Content Value

Even though you can’t see who saved your videos, there are still effective ways to measure how valuable or popular your content is. Engagement metrics such as comments, likes, shares, and view duration offer insight into how your content performs. If people are leaving thoughtful comments or asking questions, that’s usually a sign your video struck a chord.

You can also monitor whether other users are remixing or stitching your video, which suggests they find your content relevant or inspiring enough to respond to. Additionally, high sharing rates often correlate with people either forwarding your video to others or saving it for later.

What About Download Restrictions?

As a creator, you have some control over whether your videos can be downloaded. TikTok allows users to disable downloads through their privacy settings. This prevents others from saving the video directly to their device, though they can still add it to their favorites. If you’re concerned about your content being reused without credit or reposted elsewhere, disabling downloads is a good step toward protecting your intellectual property.

However, even if downloads are turned off, viewers can still screen record your video. TikTok doesn’t alert you if this happens, and there’s currently no way to prevent it entirely. That’s why creators are encouraged to be mindful of what they post and consider adding watermarks, logos, or their TikTok handle to videos they don’t want to be shared without attribution.
