Detectives have recovered a high-end Mercedes-Benz GLK350d that was reported stolen from a Spring Valley garage in Nairobi, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The luxury vehicle had been booked into the garage for a paint job on January 30, 2026, when it went missing along with the watchman on duty.
The watchman’s mobile phone was switched off, prompting immediate concern and the circulation of the vehicle as stolen.
A joint operation by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) in Nairobi and Gigiri, working alongside officers from Imbirikani Police Station, traced the vehicle to Mombasa Road.

A hot pursuit ensued, ending at a police roadblock in Kajiado South Sub-County.
According to police, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby thickets around Oltiasika and Nosilale villages, evading capture.
The Mercedes-Benz was found fitted with a fake front registration plate, KDR 003N, to avoid detection.
The vehicle has since been recovered and returned to Nairobi, while investigations continue to track down the suspects. Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
