Residents of Teleview Estate, Eldoret have been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of a tertiary institution student.
The deceased, Winnie Jelagat, a 21-year-old student at the Eldoret National Polytechnic was found dead in her house following an alleged botched abortion.
According to police report, Winnie succumbed due to severe hemorrhage; losing a substantial amount of blood.

Area residents disclosed that they suspect the incident occured on the morning of Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Her body was discovered by her friends who went to check on her after failing to reach her on phone.
The deceased had instructed her friends to wake her up but they could not reach her on phone when they called, forcing them to visit her residence.
Neighbors and friends recounted finding her clutching her phone, apparently trying to make a call, with her other hand resting on the bed.

Friends and neighbours believe she was attempting to call for help but was overwhelmed by pain and excess blood loss before she could get assistance.
The incident was confirmed by Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi.
Mwathi used the opportunity to urgent students in all institutions to avoid self-harm and seek professional medical care when in distress.
