A night raid at a wines and spirits shop in Kahawa West turned fatal after thugs attacked and killed a watchman of Maasai descent before stealing cash and alcohol stock.
The incident happened on the night of Tuesday, December 2, at Rynic Liquor, a popular outlet located in the Kamae, Garage area near the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital.
According to preliminary reports, a gang of unidentified burglars broke into the establishment under the cover of darkness.

They confronted the Maasai watchman on duty, assaulting him and ultimately killing him before gaining access to the store.
Police described the attack as “extremely violent,” noting that the victim had been beaten and beheaded in the course of the encounter.
Residents discovered the grisly scene early Wednesday morning and alerted authorities.
Police officers from the area arrived at the scene shortly after and moved the body of the Maasai watchman to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
Detectives have since launched investigations to track down the suspects and establish the motive behind the unusually brutal killing.
The gang is believed to have made away with an undisclosed amount of money and a significant portion of the liquor store’s alcohol stock.

Local residents say crime in the area has been on the rise, pointing to a recent incident involving popular content creator Abel Mutua, who was ambushed and robbed of his iPhone 16 by a knife-wielding gang while on an evening jog near the same neighbourhood.
The two incidents have sparked renewed fears about security lapses and emboldened criminal activity around Kahawa West.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist in the investigations to come forward as efforts intensify to bring the attackers to justice.
