A 13-year-old Grade 8 pupil drowned in a private dam in Runda Village, Kongoni Sub-Location, Naivasha, Nakuru County.
The deceased, a pupil at Moi Ndabi Comprehensive School, went missing on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at about 6pm.
According to his mother, efforts to locate the boy within the neighbourhood were unsuccessful. At around 8pm, his clothes were spotted near a private dam owned by a resident.
Police officers visited the scene and launched a search for the missing pupil.
His body was subsequently retrieved from the dam. The scene was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Naivasha.
The body was taken to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
And police in Kericho County have recovered the body of an unidentified man from the Sondu River near the bridge along the Kisii–Kisumu Road.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged about 35, was discovered on Monday, September 28, 2026, after a member of the public reported the suspected drowning incident at Sondu Police Station.
Officers who responded to the scene established that the man was suspected to have been swept away by the river waters and carried downstream to the area where his body was found.
Police processed and documented the scene before retrieving the body. No visible physical injuries were noted, although the body had begun decomposing.
The deceased had no identification documents in his possession, and his identity had not been established by the time the body was taken away.
The remains were moved to the Sigowet Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where they will be preserved pending post-mortem examination and identification by relatives.
