How Many TikTok Shops Can You Have?

As TikTok Shop becomes more popular among sellers in Kenya and across the world, many entrepreneurs are asking one key question: Can I open more than one TikTok Shop? And if yes, how many? If you sell products online and want to grow your business on TikTok, understanding the rules around TikTok Shop accounts is very important. Here’s a simple guide to help you understand how many TikTok Shops you can have and how it works.

One Business Can Have Up to 5 TikTok Shops

According to TikTok’s merchant rules, one legitimate business entity (such as a registered company or sole proprietorship) can open up to five (5) TikTok Shop accountsbut all of them must be registered under the same official business name and documents.

This means:

  • If you have a registered business, you can apply for multiple shops (up to five) under the same business registration number.
  • All TikTok Shops must use the same legal business documents, tax information, or certificate of registration.
  • TikTok allows this mainly for businesses that sell different types of products under different “shop brands,” but still belong to one company.

Why Would Someone Want More Than One TikTok Shop?

There are genuine reasons why a seller might want multiple shops:

  • You sell different categories of products (like cosmetics, electronics, and clothing) and want to separate them.
  • You have multiple sub-brands under your main company and want each brand to have its own TikTok Shop.
  • You are targeting different markets or audiences with different store names.

Can an Individual Have More Than One TikTok Shop?

If you are just using your personal name (not a registered company), TikTok usually permits only ONE shop per individual ID. TikTok checks this during verification.

However, if you register a business name (even as a sole proprietor) and get a business registration certificate or KRA PIN, you can apply for up to 5 shops under that business.

Important Things to Note

  • All your shops must be managed responsibly. If one shop violates TikTok policies (e.g. selling fake goods), all your other shops under the same business entity might also be penalized.
  • TikTok does not support people using fake documents or creating multiple shops secretly under different names. This can lead to permanent suspension.
  • Each shop must have a separate physical inventory and shipping setup to avoid confusion with customers.
