TikTok’s repost feature makes it easy to share videos you enjoy — but it also raises a common question among users: Can you hide your reposts from specific people?
Whether you’re trying to keep your For You Page activity private from friends, family, coworkers, or followers, here’s what you need to know.
Can You Hide Reposts From One Person on TikTok?
No — TikTok does not currently allow users to hide reposts from a specific person.
Unlike Instagram and Facebook, TikTok doesn’t have a feature that lets you restrict certain posts or interactions from individual users. If someone can see your profile and activity, they can also see your reposts.
However, there are several workarounds to help control who sees your reposts or prevent specific users from seeing your interactions at all.
1: Turn Off the Repost Feature Completely
If you don’t want anyone—including that one specific person—to see your reposts:
- Open TikTok.
- Tap your Profile.
- Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top right.
- Go to Settings and Privacy.
- Select Privacy.
- Scroll to Repost.
- Toggle Repost off.
This stops TikTok from showing your reposts publicly.
2: Remove the Person From Your Followers
If the person follows you and you don’t want them to see your reposts:
- Go to your Profile.
- Tap Followers.
- Find the person.
- Tap the three dots next to their name.
- Select Remove this follower.
They won’t be notified and will no longer see your repost activity on their feed.
3: Block the User
If you want to fully prevent someone from seeing anything you repost, like, or post:
- Visit the person’s profile.
- Tap the three dots in the top right.
- Select Block.
Blocking hides all your activity from them — permanently unless you reverse it.
4: Switch to a Private Account
With a private account, only approved followers can see your posts or repost activity.
To switch:
- Open Settings and Privacy.
- Tap Privacy.
- Toggle on Private Account.
From there, you can remove or decline specific people.
5: Remove a Repost You Don’t Want Anyone to See
If you accidentally reposted something:
- Return to the video.
- Tap the Share button.
- Tap Remove Repost.
The repost disappears instantly.
6: Restrict Who Can See Your Likes (Indirect Protection)
Your reposts appear publicly, but you can hide your liked videos — a related privacy tool:
- Go to Settings and Privacy.
- Tap Privacy.
- Select Likes.
- Choose Only Me.
This doesn’t hide reposts, but it adds another layer of personal privacy.
What TikTok Says About Repost Privacy
TikTok currently treats reposts just like public interactions — if your activity is visible on your profile, reposts are too. There is no built‑in feature to hide reposts from one individual the way you can hide stories or posts on other platforms.
