Justina Syokau joins Oga Obinna, shaves head bald in honour of Raila Odinga

Singer Justina Syokau, famed for her hit song Twendi Twendi, has once again captured public attention, this time with a bold and emotional gesture in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the controversial songstress surprised her fans after unveiling a brand-new bald look, saying it was her special way of showing love, respect, and gratitude to the late opposition leader.

In a heartfelt post spotted by Nairobi News, the mother of one shared a video showing her long hair before shaving it all off.

Justina explained that she decided to go bald to honour Raila, whom she described as one of her greatest inspirations and supporters.

In many African traditions, shaving one’s head is a symbolic act of mourning and respect for the deceased, a practice that Justina says inspired her decision.

By joining Raila’s family and supporters in the symbolic gesture, she hoped to pay her final respects to a man she deeply admired.

However, the move has divided opinions online.

While some fans praised the Twendi Twendi hitmaker for her bold show of respect, others accused her of clout chasing and using Raila’s name to stay relevant.

“Justina never misses a trend,” one fan commented.

“Anything for views and followers,” another netizen wrote.

Despite the backlash, Justina stood firm, insisting her act came from a place of love and cultural respect.

Interestingly, she is not the only celebrity to go bald in honour of the late Raila Odinga.

Comedian Oga Obinna recently did the same, a move that also drew mixed reactions from Kenyans online.

Both Obinna and Syokau’s tributes have reignited conversations around how far celebrities should go when paying homage to political figures, with many still debating whether their gestures were genuine or simply publicity stunts.
