KDF Truck Involved in Accident Along Nairobi's Outer Ring Road

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) military truck was involved in a road accident along Nairobi’s Outer Ring Road on Thursday, September 24, 2026, causing significant traffic disruption along the busy route.

The accident reportedly occurred at around 9am near the Shell petrol station at the Donholm-Outer Ring Road exit, a section connecting Jogoo Road and Manyanja Road.

According to reports from the scene, the military truck collided with a matatu operated by Utimo Sacco as it headed towards Umoja.

Images and videos circulating from the scene showed extensive damage to the KDF vehicle, with the passenger-side door appearing to have been partly torn from its hinges following the collision.

An officer was seen assisting colleagues who were seated at the front of the truck, with some reportedly trapped inside after the crash.

“Other soldiers at the scene were involved in efforts to assist their colleagues following the collision,” according to reports from the scene.

The damaged military truck remained at the scene for some time before it was eventually removed, further affecting the flow of traffic along the busy corridor.

The crash caused significant delays, with motorists travelling towards Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) through Outer Ring Road advised to exercise caution and consider alternative routes.

Drivers approaching the CBD from the Allsops and Kangundo Road sides were particularly affected by the congestion.

At the time of publication, authorities had not issued an official statement detailing the circumstances that led to the collision.

It was also not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or killed in the accident.

The incident came a day after another serious road crash involving a Dreamline bus and a trailer along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway near Taru and Mackinnon Road.

The collision left several passengers injured, with rescue teams responding to the scene to assist those trapped inside the damaged bus.

The two incidents have once again highlighted the challenges faced by motorists along some of the country’s busiest transport corridors, where accidents can quickly lead to major traffic disruptions.
