The former Deputy President on the evening of Tuesday, July 15, took to social media to mourn Mr KK Mwenyewe who used to mimmic him in most of his online skits.

Various notable public figures including politicians and celebrities were shaken by news of Zakaria’s demise and duly mourned him through different social media platforms.

Joining the bandwagon, Rigathi followed suit but his condolence message was received by hostility from countless netizens.

In his Facebook post, the DCP party leader wrote;

“I have this morning woken up to the sad demise of Mr. Zachariah Kariuki alias Mr. KK Mwenyewe, a content creator per excellence and inspiration to many.

Mr. KK, a young, consistent, and resilient young man, used comedy to communicate simple and creative messages to all Kenyans and spoke to our hearts.

I send my deepest sympathies to his family and his friends at this difficult moment.

I especially I condole the creative industry on the loss of a champion whose creative eye lives with us for days to come.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and God grant his family peace.”

His message rubbed many social media users the wrong way and they did not hesitate to tell him off through the comments section of his own post.

A number of those who attacked Gachagua called him a hypocrite for snubbing the comedian when he was still alive and only coming out to mourn him in his death.

Many stated that Mr KK Mwenyewe sought audience with the former Deputy President when he could not pay his school fees but the latter gave him a cold shoulder.

“Mr. Rigathi Gachagua, you’re a hypocrite par excellence. This young man seek your audience while you were the deputy president,but you never allowed it. You can’t purport to mourn him at this juncture. Stop hypocrisy,” Kipngetich Collins commented.

Mercy Chepkoech Sigira wrote;

“You didn’t even made any attempt to meet him when he was alive.. hypocrite!”

“The love towards the dead, did you hold his hands in the journey while alive?” Vincent Opar asked.

“‪Irony soo LOUD 🤦‍♂️‬ ‪No recognition when he was alive yet here we are with glowing tributes. He imitated you to fame, when Kenyans cried out online for you to support him, you stayed silent and now the praise comes when he can no longer hear it. ‬
