A police officer in Kitengela is cooling his heels behind bars after he was arrested for killing colleague in a fight sparked by a love triangle.
Police officers were forced to arrest their own, one Sergeant Abubakar Said after pushing Constable Manasseh Ithiru off a third floor of an apartment leading to his death.
The unfortunate incident by the two uniformed officers is said to have been triggered by a fight over a woman, Nairobi News has learnt.
Police report indicates that the colleagues encountered each other in the house of a woman they were both tied to romantically.
Officers from Kitengela Police Station were alerted by a boda boda rider who had ferries the deceased to the woman’s apartment.
It was reported that Ithiru arrived at the apartment earlier and moments later, Abubakar showed up unannounced.
It was at that juncture when a scuffle ensued with Abubakar overpowering Ithiru who was pushed off the third floor of the building through the balcony.
“It is believed that a scuffle ensued between the two officers over the lady, whereby the deceased was overpowered and thrown from the house through the balcony, where he met his death. The scene was processed and documented by CSI personnel from Kitengela, and the body had multiple injuries, including the head. The body has been moved to Shalom Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem. Two suspects No 232870 Sgt Abubakar Said and Irene Wavinya Nzioka, a Kamba female adult aged 27 years, are held in police custody assisting the police with investigation,” the police report stated.
The woman in question has been identified as Irene Wavinya.
