The Cabinet Committee on Governance, Social Sector, and Public Administration convened yesterday to review priority State programmes, government projects, and policy interventions planned for 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Kithure Kindiki, focused on assessing implementation challenges and addressing areas of distress within key sectors.
The session was attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Attorney General Dorcas Agik Oduor, and several Cabinet Secretaries, including Defence Roselinda Soipan Tuya, National Treasury John Mbadi Ng’ongo, Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Wanjiku Miano, Education Julius Migos Ogamba, Labour and Social Protection Alfred N. Mutua, Public Service and Human Capital Development Geoffrey K. Kiringa Ruku, Youth Affairs Salim Mvurya, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya, East Africa Community Affairs Beatrice Askul Moe, ASALs and Regional Development Beatrice Askul Moe, Water, and ICT and the Digital Economy Eric Muriithi Muga.

During the meeting, Cabinet members reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, social protection, regional development, and digital transformation.
The committee also highlighted challenges affecting project delivery, including resource allocation gaps, delays in policy implementation, and areas where service delivery to citizens has been distressed.
Kindiki emphasized the need for coordinated action across ministries to ensure that government programmes achieve their intended impact.
“Our focus is on addressing the pain points in service delivery and ensuring that the 2026 agenda is implemented efficiently, transparently, and inclusively,” he said.
The committee resolved to enhance inter-ministerial collaboration, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and prioritize interventions that address critical issues affecting vulnerable populations, particularly in ASAL regions, social welfare, and digital access.
This meeting underscores the government’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda while tackling structural and operational challenges that have caused distress in key public sectors.
