Late Wicknell Chivayo’s Brother G6 Honours Him With Song and Special Shirt Bearing His Portrait

Zimbabwean businessman Joachim “G6” Chivayo has paid a touching tribute to his late brother, flamboyant tycoon Wicknell Chivayo, as the family prepares to lay the businessman to rest.

G6 honoured the late businessman through music and fashion, wearing a specially designed shirt carrying portraits of Wicknell as mourners continued gathering at the Chivayo family home in Harare.

The tribute comes just days after Wicknell and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, died in a helicopter crash near Marondera on September 30, 2026. The crash claimed the lives of all five people who were aboard the aircraft, according to Zimbabwean authorities.

G6 remembers his brother through music

G6’s tribute has offered a deeply personal glimpse into the grief within the Chivayo family.

Rather than limiting his remembrance of Wicknell to formal funeral proceedings, G6 used a song dedicated to the late tycoon to celebrate his life and preserve memories of the brothers’ bond.

He also wore a shirt emblazoned with portraits of Wicknell, turning his outfit into a moving memorial for the businessman whose larger-than-life personality made him one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable public figures.

The gesture resonated with mourners and social media users, particularly because G6 has remained closely involved in funeral arrangements since the tragedy.

Recent reports indicate that G6 has been on the ground at the family mansion, welcoming mourners and helping coordinate arrangements as relatives, friends and dignitaries continue to pay their respects.

G6’s public tribute comes at a particularly difficult time for the family.

Images from the funeral gatherings have shown him maintaining a relatively composed presence while dealing with the enormous loss.

His appearance at the family mansion in an electric-blue Rolls-Royce Cullinan also attracted attention, although those close to the proceedings have described his involvement in the funeral as more significant than the luxury cars surrounding the event.

The two brothers had maintained a close relationship, with Wicknell previously referring to G6 affectionately as his younger brother.

G6, whose full name is Joachim Chivayo, has also cultivated his own public profile and is known for his luxury lifestyle and “MANUMBER” branding.

Wicknell’s death shocked Zimbabwe

Wicknell Chivayo’s death sent shockwaves across Zimbabwe and beyond.

The 43-year-old businessman had built a reputation around luxury, philanthropy, high-profile friendships and a highly visible social-media presence.

He regularly posted photographs of Rolls-Royces, private jets, expensive watches and lavish properties while also publicising gifts to musicians, pastors, sports personalities and other public figures.

His death also drew reactions from prominent African leaders, including Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who described him as a generous and philanthropic figure.

Kenyan President William Ruto was also among the African leaders who had developed a public relationship with Chivayo.

The Zimbabwean businessman had been photographed with Ruto on several occasions, including at State House and during social events.

His final days remain a subject of reflection

Chivayo’s death has prompted renewed attention to his final days.

Just days before the crash, he continued sharing images and messages on social media reflecting on his wealth, relationships and faith.

His final public posts have since taken on a different meaning for followers who watched his online activities before the tragedy.

Reports have also highlighted his philanthropic projects in his hometown of Chivhu.

Before his death, Chivayo was financing the construction of a high school and a stadium, projects that remained unfinished when he died. G6 has reportedly vowed to ensure the developments are completed in his brother’s honour.

A family determined to preserve his legacy

As preparations for the burial continue, the Chivayo family has increasingly focused on celebrating Wicknell’s life and the impact he had on those around him.

For G6, the shirt carrying his brother’s portraits and the emotional song offer a deeply personal way of saying goodbye.

While Wicknell was widely known for his wealth, expensive cars and flamboyant lifestyle, the latest tribute highlights another side of his story,  his role as a brother, husband and family man.

With mourners continuing to arrive in Harare, G6’s tribute has become one of the more emotional moments in the family’s farewell to a businessman whose extraordinary life and sudden death have captured attention across Africa.
