LSK Witness Testifies In Court About Incident Involving Brian Mwenda And Alleged Fake Legal Credentials

On Monday, a witness from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) testified in court about an unusual incident involving Brian Mwenda, the accused in a case involving alleged fake legal credentials.

Vivian Mosuna, an employee of LSK, explained to the court that it is impossible for two advocates to share the same admission number.

Her testimony was part of the ongoing case where Mwenda is charged with multiple offenses, including identity theft and forging legal documents.

Mosuna recounted an incident from September 22, 2023, when Mwenda reached out via email, requesting assistance because he was unable to access his online portal.

After resolving his issue, Mosuna received a call from a second individual, who also identified himself as Brian Mwenda Ndwiga.

The caller claimed that he had accessed the same account and that his admission number was shared with another advocate named Brian Mwenda.

“This claim struck us as highly unusual,” Mosuna told the court. “It’s not possible for two advocates to share the same admission number.

I escalated the matter to our ICT department for further guidance.”

The case has attracted significant attention, highlighting concerns over fraudulent practices within the legal profession.

During cross-examination, Mosuna clarified that she had never received a call from the accused requesting any changes to the details or account information.

Brian Mwenda Njagi is facing six charges, including making a false document and uttering a false document.

He has denied all charges, including that of identity theft, and maintains his innocence in the case.

The trial continues as authorities work to address issues of fraud within the legal community.
