Police in Embu County have arrested a 61-year-old man in connection with the murder of his neighbour following a violent incident in Mbeere North Sub-County.
The suspect surrendered to the area assistant chief after the alleged killing of Njue Kahara, both residents of Kirigo Village in Ishiara.
According to police, the incident was reported at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday by the Assistant Chief of Iria Itune Sub-Location, Margaret Ikamba.
A team of officers from Ishiara Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and crime scene investigators from Embu County visited the scene, which was located within the suspect’s compound.
Investigators found the deceased lying on his back with multiple injuries, including wounds to the left side of the chin, the head, waistline and right elbow.
During a search of the suspect’s house, officers recovered several exhibits believed to be linked to the killing, including a blood-stained panga, two arrows and a bow.
Police said the suspect later surrendered to the assistant chief and was escorted to Ishiara Police Station, where he is being held as investigations continue.
The body of the deceased was moved to the Ishiara Level 4 Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances and motive behind the fatal attack.
And a 25-year-old construction worker died after falling from the third floor of a building under construction in Koilel area, Ainabkoi Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.
The deceased was identified as Brian Wekesa Wanyonyi, who was employed as a breaker machine operator by Balaji Construction Company.
According to police, the accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday while Wanyonyi was using a ladder to access the third floor to remove an unwanted concrete beam.
Investigators said he slipped from the ladder and fell to the ground, sustaining severe head injuries as well as fractures to his left arm and left foot.
He was rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at about 3:30 p.m.
Police officers visited and documented the scene.
The body was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace accident.
