Police in Siaya County are investigating a fatal assault that occurred in Bondo Sub-County, leading to the death of a man days after he was attacked.
Police said the incident was reported by a security guard who indicated that on the night of March 17, 2026 at around 8:00 p.m, the deceased Felix Otieno and his colleagues were attacked at their residence near Masita KMTC.
The attackers were three individuals armed with rungus. During the assault, Felix Otieno was struck with a rungu and fell unconscious. Members of the public responded to the scene and rushed him to Bondo Sub-County Hospital, where he was admitted.
However, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The body has since been moved to the Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities pursuing the identified suspects in connection with the murder.
Elsewhere, police in Bungoma County have launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to a fatal assault in Kimilili Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as James Shinda, 37, had on March 10, 2026 gone to work at a farm and while working alongside other labourers, a disagreement arose between him and a colleague after the suspect allegedly made remarks that angered the deceased.
During the altercation, the assailant reportedly attacked James Shinda with a jembe, striking him on the head and inflicting serious injuries.
The victim was initially rushed to Nirock Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. On March 16, 2026, his condition deteriorated, prompting his transfer to Phineal Hospital for specialised treatment.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to the injuries on March 19, 2026 at around 4:00 p.m.
The body has been moved to Delight Funeral Home mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the incident, and efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
Meanwhile, police in Kuria West Sub-County revised an earlier suicide report to a murder case following postmortem findings.
Authorities indicated that a postmortem conducted on the body of Davine Kwamboka revealed she died from a head injury caused by blunt force trauma.
The case had initially been reported as a suicide and gender-based violence incident under. However, the new medical findings have confirmed that the death was a result of homicide, prompting police to amend the records accordingly.
Investigators have since taken three suspects into custody. The suspects are currently being held under a miscellaneous application and are expected to be arraigned at Kehancha Law Courts on April 1, 2026, where they will face murder charges.
Authorities say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
